Agriumbria 2026: Meeting point for real economy, agricultural policy and innovation

ENAJ was invited to Agriumbria and to the presentation of the Antonio Ricci Award

The 57th edition of Agriumbria has presented itself as one of the main national events in Italy dedicated to livestock and agri-food supply chain and as reference point for networking and innovation. The ENAJ Management Committee was invited to join the opening ceremony, when the “Antonio Ricci award” was presented, an award to honour journalistic skills. Antonio Ricci was the founder of the Italian guild of Agricultural Journalists UNARGA, which is member in the European Network of Agricultural Journalists ENAJ.

All mayor agricultural organizations – Coldiretti, Confagricoltura, CIA , breeders associations, Mashinery, trade organizations and representatives of important sectors were present. For the first time forestry, which plays an important role in Umbria, was given more attention. The forestry sector often suffers from under-representation. In general, machinery and equipment for forestry work and “primary wood processing” find only a non-specific platform at events dedicated to agricultural mechanics or gardening. This year there was a Forestry Demo Area where innovative forestry management techniques were presented.

The focus of Agriumbria is clearly livestock. Since 2022, Agriumbria has hosted the Italian Meat Centre thanks to a memorandum of understanding between Umbria Fiere, the Italian Breeders’ Association and the breed associations ANACLI and ANABIC. The aim is to consolidate the long-standing relationship between the sector associations and Agriumbria as the ideal venue for the national beef cattle shows.

Antonio Forini, president of Umbria Fiere Spa, pointed out: “The 57th edition of Agriumbria tells much more than simple continuity: It tells a story of agricultural enterprises, breeders, innovation and community that over the years have built here, in Bastia Umbra, one of the main national events dedicated to livestock farming and the agri-food supply chain. Today, Agriumbria is not just a trade fair. It has become a place where real economy, agricultural policy and innovation meet.”

Coverage by agricultural journalists is of great importance for Agriumbria – its success, and also the success of the agricultural sector in general is attributed to them. The yearly Agriumbria’s award for best coverage was therefore dedicated to Antonio Ricci, a famous and respected agricultural journalist in the sector. Antonio Ricci, who has passed away in 2016, was a founder of the Italian agricultural journalists’ association, Unaga, now Unarga. At this year’s opening ceremony, Sandra and Carlo Ricci, the widow and the son of Antonia Ricci, presented the certificate to the award winner. The winner was Andrea Rosati, president of the animal sciences federation.
