ENAJ announced earlier this year a competition for the best video report called “An Agricultural Journalist at Work.”
The idea of the competition was to encourage members to create short video clips filmed with a smartphone, showing their everyday work life — making agricultural journalism more visible to a broader audience.
This year, first place went to Karolina Rastija, a journalist at Agroklub representing Croatia.

“Receiving ENAJ’s prestigious award as an agricultural journalist is both an honor and a confirmation that fieldwork, documenting reality, and showcasing rural life are appreciated. I am proud that, with the support of my colleagues at Agroklub, I won first place with this video, where I showed what it means to live and work in the countryside,” said Karolina at the award ceremony at AgroRocks conference in Osijek, October 3rd.
Karolina lives with her family in the small village of Sopje, near Slatina (in the Virovitica-Podravina County). In the winning video, she humorously and warmly portrayed her working day — what Agroklub’s home office looks like and also the agricultural unit managed by her husband.
In addition to writing news, articles, and reports, the video also showed another side of her daily life: feeding pigs, watering the garden, and dealing with the challenges of rural living. The video combined professional journalism with a personal, authentic glimpse into her life, giving it warmth and sincerity.
“Karolina gave a lighthearted and humorous look into the day of an Agroklub journalist while also touching upon more serious agricultural issues such as drought affecting maize production,” emphasized Rachel Martin, a member of the ENAJ management committee, in her comments about the award.
Congratulations to Karolina for her victory, which also brought recognition to Croatian agricultural journalism.
