ENAJ member guilds are invited to nominate at least one of their member journalists to attend the Informal Meeting of European Agricultural Ministers in Riga, Latvia, between May 31st and June 2nd.
As well as the usual ENAJ delegate meeting, there will also be a press programme organised by the Latvian Ministry of Agriculture, which will include opening and closing press conferences, as well as the opportunity to meet the ministers informally.
The Latvian Ministry has organised the Informal Meeting in line with one of the main agricultural priorities of the Latvian Presidency: Organic Farming – Sustainability, Growth and Consumer Needs before 2020. The first day of the programme will include a visit to the organic farm “Buku audzetava”, which specialises in the breeding of red and fallow deer, and the family farm “Krigeri”, specialising in the production of organic grain and sheep breeding.
On the second day, delegates will meet in the National Library of Latvia – the centre of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU – where ministers will discuss aspects of sustainability and the growth of organic farming.
The ENAJ will cover the costs of accommodation for delegates, who will have only to pay the costs of their travel to and from Latvia. Transfers and dinners will be hosted by the Latvian Ministry of Agriculture.
Delegates from ENAJ countries who would like to attend should contact their Guild or Association without delay.
